e-Crime Bureau, a cybersecurity and digital forensics firm, has been honoured by the Mobex Africa Innovation Awards as the Cyber Security/Anti-Fraud Company of the year.
The second edition of the awards was held on September 07, 2019 at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel.
The Mobex Africa Innovation Awards (MIA), organised by Coasters Company Limited is an industry-specific award scheme established to honour excellence, innovation, and creativity of enterprises and individuals helping transform lives and livelihood using technology and solving socio-economic problems with the deployment of ICT skills and knowledge.
This year’s event was organised under the distinguished chairmanship of Prof. Nii Narku Quaynor. Award winners were chosen based by affirmation through votes by the general public together with technical evaluation of contributions of nominees by faculty of judges.
Speaking at the Awards ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Coasters Company Limited, Mr. George Spencer Quaye acknowledged the support of industry stakeholders over the years for their contributions in making Ghana a hub for the African region for technology solutions in view of the growth and diversification of technology products which has attracted interest from investors all over the world.
He congratulated award winners and charged both winners and nominees to build upon the recognition to develop the industry even better.
e-Crime Bureau as an industry leader continues to invest in modern forensic tools required in investigating complex digital and financial crimes. The Bureau’s continuous collaboration with law enforcement agencies such as the CID to investigate complex fraud incidents at the Bureau’s digital forensic lab leading to the successful criminal prosecution of cybercrime offences.
e-Crime Bureau has also provided cybersecurity support to institutions across all industry by developing a cyber-threat intelligence portal which has aided in delivering regular updates on emerging cyber-attacks targeting IT infrastructure for institutions to stay proactive in preparing their IT infrastructure adequately to counter any cyber-threat.
This contribution to the fight against cybercrime has helped control the growing incidents of fraudulent financial transactions and reduced financial loses linked to many of these cyber-attacks.
The e-Crime Bureau Team of cybersecurity and digital forensics analysts have over the past year entrenched their leadership role in fighting cybercrime by upgrading the capacity of professionals in conducting digital forensic investigations in Ghana and across Africa through lab-based and certification programmes through the e-Crime Academy and Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) collaboration.
Receiving the award on behalf of e-Crime Bureau, Mr. Philip Danquah Debrah, the Head of Business Operations expressed his excitement at the recognition and owed the achievement to the trust and confidence reposed by its clients and stakeholders in Ghana and Africa who have continuously believed and relied on the Bureau to deliver the best of cybersecurity solutions in the fight against cybercrime.
Mr Debrah on behalf of Management and staff of the Bureau expressed his appreciation to the organisers, the Academy of Judges and all clients and well-wishers who voted because of their belief in the Bureau’s professionalism and quality of delivery.
He affirmed that the Bureau will not renege in its efforts to improve upon its capacity but will continue to explore and deploy the best solutions to support organisations to avoid the ever-growing incidents of cyber-attacks.
